The cross on the front of the church was removed on Friday, May 31st, to replace the steel mounts with stainless steel mounts. The concern was that as the steel mounts rusted, they expand and might crack the stone.

After removal we see that one of the mounts was almost rusted through (see photo). Preventive maintenance is best!
