2012 Turkey Basket Project

Once again it is time to start working on our Turkey Basket Project. Last year more than 500 families received a turkey and all the fixings for their Thanksgiving dinner, due to the effort of our congregation, the Presbyterian Village, Shir Shalom (formerly Temple Beth Am), Temple Beth Zion Religious School, Amherst Presbyterian Church, Williamsville East High School, local Girl Scout Troops, and many corporate sponsors. There will be sign-up sheets in Westminster Hall following services beginning October 21st. Please sign up and let us know how you can help. A complete basket includes:

  • Frozen turkey
  • 2 cans vegetables
  • 2 cans fruit
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Stuffing mix
  • Potatoes
  • Brownie mix or dessert
  • Beverage (optional)

We will accept complete baskets or any of the items listed above as well as financial donations as we will need to purchase at least 350 turkeys to meet our commitment this year to 500 families. A complete basket costs approximately $25.

Also, if Wegmans offers its program this year that allows you to buy a turkey at a very reasonable price with a minimum purchase, please think of purchasing one or two for us, as the ones we have ordered are costing us substantially more. If storage is a problem, contact Anne McIlroy and she will arrange to have the turkey picked up and stored until needed on November 18.

Also, please continue to keep those Dash’s tapes coming throughout the year as the money received from Dash’s Markets helps us purchase many of the items needed to make up these baskets.

The distribution will be at Temple Beth Zion Religious School on Sweet Home Rd. in Amherst on Sunday, November 18.

Any questions, please contact Anne McIlroy at 716-688-4781 or Cindy Adams at 716-688-1538.
