Presbyterian Women of North Church: Women of North Church group together to build leadership, raise and study issues, engage in worship, enter into fellowship with each other and the congregation, and serve in this church and the wider community. All women in the church are considered part of Presbyterian Women. Please know that if you are a woman or supporter of women at North Church, we welcome you and wish to know you, your needs, and your gifts.
Women of North Church are committed to celebrating their gifts of ministry. The richness and diversity of the gifts of women are vital and an integral part of our congregation’s life. The gifts of the young, the retired, the employed, and the single are continually celebrated as we welcome an inclusive and caring community of women empowered to respond to God’s call.
Here are some of the activities North Church has to offer women:

2012 Presbyterian Women Birthday Offering—July 1, 2012
Since 1922, the Birthday Offering has provided and continues to provide much-needed financial assistance to worthwhile projects not included in ongoing General Assembly mission support. New projects are carefully and prayerfully selected to help meet a crucial need or persons who are hurting or are disadvantaged.
2012 recipients are:
- CIRCLE OF FRIENDS: Celebrating Life, Inc., Peachtree City, Ga.—This organization empowers and equips women to help other women and youth. Its newest program, Living Water for Girls, will rescue, rehabilitate and provide safe refuge for young American girls who are victims of sex trafficking and exploitation.
- NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR ROMANIAN ORPHANED CHILDREN (NOROC)—NOROC facilitates the spiritual, social, physical and emotional development of these vulnerable children.
- SOLAR UNDER THE SUN, Irving, Texas—SUTS trains lay people to lead teams in the installation of solar-powered energy systems. The systems provide clean, inexpensive and long-lasting energy in low-income communities, supplying power for health, education and communications services.
Scrap and Chat: This group of women of all ages meets once a month on Sunday afternoons to fellowship and also get something done. We relax, scrapbook, craft, sort papers and pictures, etc. and chat together. Come share the afternoon with old friends and make some new ones. Bring a small snack or something of inspiration to share with the group. Contact Debbie Hutton for more information at 716-688-4658 or dsnyder97@yahoo.com.
The Circles
The Circles are small groups that gather regularly to provide an inclusive, caring community of women. Each circle considers itself an integral part of the Presbyterian Women and uses PW resources to strengthen this connection. The socializing and sharing of these groups provide a powerful source of fellowship, support, and guidance.
Circles determine their own programs for the year including Bible, mission, and issue study; service projects; and the development of prayer life and creative work. Involvement within the community includes volunteering at the Oakwood Health Center, assisting with Salvation Army Christmas toy distribution, serving at the Loaves and Fishes Dining Room, and collecting food for the local food pantries.
Three circles exist at the present time. These groups welcome new members and, if sufficient interest exists, a new circle may be formed.
Martha Circle – Meets the second Tuesday of each month in the afternoon from September through June. Meetings are held in the Library, with rotating leadership. All are welcome.
Ruth-Mary Circle: Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30am. Leadership is shared. We welcome new members to join us as we deepen our faith and work to support those who need our help, here and around the world. Please call Mary Kasbohm at 716-633-8993 for further details.
Sarah Circle: Meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in members’ homes. Everyone is welcome.
Needlers: The Needlers Group makes prayer shawls and distributes them to church members and others who may be in distress. Please call Mary Louise Berg at 716-839-2421 if you are interested in participating.
