Urgent Update on West Valley Nuclear

You are invited to Adult Education class on Sunday, April 15, at 9:00 a.m. in the church library for more information and to add your individual voice to a petition. Bill and Pat Townsend have been working with the environmental coalition on West Valley nuclear waste. Their presentation is a Powerpoint with slides, maps, and diagrams of the site. Read Pat’s Buffalo News article from March 20, 2018.
After the 10-year delay specified in the 2010 Environmental Impact Study, the U.S. Department of Energy and NYSERDA are ready to begin the procedures for a final decision about what to do with the radioactive wastes at West Valley, 45 miles south of us and in our Great Lakes watershed.
Public input is invited, at least until April 23, 2018 (an extension has been requested but not yet granted). Our Presbytery and the North Church Session have asked on our behalf for a full cleanup that would remove all the deadly nuclear waste from this eroding site.
