Sunday, January 21, during the 10 a.m. worship service
Roman Mekinulov, principal cellist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, will be providing special music on Sunday, January 21. A native of Leningrad, Russia, he began cello studies at the Leningrad Music School at the age of 5, and at the age of 16, entered the Rimsky-Korsakov College, where he studied with George Ginovker. As a chamber musician he has performed with various ensembles, and in 1988 was awarded First Prize in the Leningrad Chamber Music Competition. He manages the BRAVO workshop for young chamber musicians, which has been held at North Church for the past several years. He and his family live in Amherst.
