The Nominating Committee has begun the vital work of discerning active North Church members to serve as elders and deacons for the Class of 2016. Elders and deacons strengthen and nurture the life of our congregation and oversee programs that serve the needs of our North Church family. The Class of 2016 will begin serving in March 2013.

In this new chapter of our journey as a community of faith, please prayerfully consider people, including yourself, who feel called to leadership and service at North, following the example of Jesus Christ. Reverend Hennessy and the North Church staff will train the newly elected elders and deacons prior to their installation or ordination.

Please print out this form, write names where indicated, and place in the offering plate or drop it off in the church office. You may also give names to any member of the Nominating Committee via phone or email. In addition, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member if you have questions about how deacons and elders serve or about the nominating process.

Nominating Committee

DEACONS
Deacons provide and oversee programs that serve the needs of the North Church family. They minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress. The gifts of deacons include spiritual character, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies and sound judgment.

The Board of Deacons meets at 7pm on the second Tuesday of each month. The term of office is three years.

ELDERS
It is the duty of elders, individually and jointly, to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation committed to their charge. Gifts of elders include faith, dedication and good judgment. Installed elders serve on the Session and Session committees.

The Session meets at 7pm on the first Monday of each month. The term of office is three years.
