Become a Compeer Volunteer
Are you looking for a new and exciting volunteer opportunity? Would you like to join more than 300 caring Buffalonians to use the power of friendship to help improve the life of a person who is striving for good mental health? If so, Compeer is for you. Compeer matches volunteer friends and mentors in one-to-one supportive relationships with children, adults and senior citizens who are striving for good mental health and are in need of a hand of friendship.
Volunteers typically commit one hour a week to their friends for a period of one year. Compeer friends enjoy activities together like movies, eating out or attending sporting or cultural events. More important than the events they share, however, is the time they spend talking together about the issues most important to them and that help nourish their friendship. If you think you have what it takes to be a great friend, call Sarah Stimm (to be matched with an older adult) or Karen Bartkowiak (to be matched with a child or adult) at 716-883-3331. It may be the most important thing you ever do. (You can also call to request more information or set up an interview.) More information is posted on the Mission kiosk in the Dickinson Room or you can look on the Compeer website.
