In addition to the activities listed below, the Adult Fellowship Committee also schedules progressive dinners, church picnics, and soup luncheons on a regular basis.
Mission Activities
One of the big ways we fellowship at North Church is by serving alongside each other. Whether it’s at one of the monthly Habitat for Humanity work days, at a regular Dress a Girl sewing event, or serving food at Friends of Night People, there are lots of opportunities to become part of the North Church family. We encourage you to get involved in our mission activities!
Tuesday Breakfast
Interesting and informal discussions about life in the church and in the world (i.e., whatever topic seems relevant) take place at the Sheridan Family Restaurant on Sheridan Drive at 7am on most Tuesdays. This is a chance to get to know members of the congregation in an informal setting, and first-time participants are most welcome!!
Book Groups
Two book groups meet regularly each month in the church library, and all are welcome to attend, even if you haven’t had a chance to read the book.
(1) Wednesday morning group (3rd Wed. of every month), 10-11am (the “short-story” reading group)
- February 15: The Collected Stories of Katherine Anne Porter by Katherine Anne Porter
- March 21: Any book that Charles Dickens has written. One of the assignments is to indicate why we selected that particular reading, what we learned about the author, and what about the contents most “stuck” with us after reading the piece. [Some are probably available for the Kindle.]
- April 18: Wolf: the Lives of Jack London by James L. Haley. (This is a biography. Some interesting perspectives of the author and the book are found if you just Google “Wolf–the lives of Jack London.”) [Used copies on Amazon at $3.72]
- May 16: In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin by Erik Larson. [Used copies on Amazon at around $10.00.]
(2) Wednesday afternoon group (4th Wed. of every month), 2:30-3:30pm
- February 22: Same Kind Of Different As Me by Ron Hall
- March 28: One Amazing Thing by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
Young Adult Fellowship & Bible Study
Are you 18-30s looking to meet other young adults at North Church? Please join us for a Bible study, fellowship, and refreshments. Click here for more information and to get involved.
Annual Church Picnic
Each June, we gather together in the playground in back of the church for food, games, and fellowship with our church family.
Wish You Were Here
North Church members stay connected during the summer months through a postcard board in Westminster Hall. It is interesting to see where everyone has traveled, and it is nice to know that we are thought of by church members while we are far from home.
