Peter Martin joined North Church in February 2010. His task is to oversee and teach the various children’s and youth ministries at North Church and to bring younger people in closer fellowship with each other and the rest of the congregation.
Peter met his wife Tara in seminary, and they have been married since 2007. He earned his Master of Divinity from Biblical Seminary in the Philadelphia area and has experience in formal preaching, teaching VBS, Sunday school, camp counseling, and serving youth groups as both a volunteer and a staff member. Peter is passionate about the Bible and its relevance and life-impact for everyone, especially young people. He’s not too far removed from being a teenager himself, and wants to bring Jesus’ Gospel of love and acceptance and the community of His church into the lives of young people and their culture. He’ll use whatever medium he can in this pursuit, whether it’s texting, facebook, movies, music (he’s still catching up on the newer stuff) or television.
Peter has already proven to be a good fit for West New York with his love for Buffalo wings and various other spicy foods; he also enjoys hiking, reading, going to the movies, and listening to his wife sing. Peter, Tara, and their son live in Amherst.
